World Book Day 2019

We kicked off World Book Day 2019 on Tuesday 4th March with a visit from International Best Selling Author Peter J. Murray, author of the Mokee Joe series of books.

Peter provided an awe inspiring assembly about his life and the inspiration behind his books to all our Key Stage 2 children. In the afternoon Years 5 and 6 took part in a Spooky Story Writing workshop. Peter showed children how he gets his ideas and it was amazing to see how he inspired the children to begin to plan and write their own stories.

The following day Pete returned with his books to complete a book signing for the children, who were completly obsessed with the books and have been avidly reading ever since!

On Thursday children came to school dressed in their favourite book, cartoon or film costumes. Some one even came dressed as Mokee Joe himeself! Children had also been asked to enter a story into our 'Creative Minds' story writing competition.

There were some fantastic entries, but there could only be one winner in each class. Each winner recieved a book token to choose a book of their choice from the Book Trees in the main office. Well done to everyone who entered!

Please visit our office to see the range of very reasonably priced books we have on offer.

Every child in school has recieved a World Book Day 2019 book token which can be exchanged for a £1 book in participating book shops.
