Remote Learning Y1

Year 1 have been fantastic during our lessons on zoom. They have produced some amazing work and I have been impressed by their enthusiasm, commitment to learning and desire to achieve.

We have continued to revise Phase 3 and Phase 5 letter sounds using Letterland. We have been reading words containing the daily letter sound before writing a sentence. We then shared our sentences with the rest of the class.

In maths, we continued with our work on addition and subtraction up to 20 before moving on to look at periods of time. We focused on seasons, months of the year and days of the week, discussing what we do on different days of the week.

In English we were reading the story of ‘The Three Billy Goats Gruff’. We re-told the story using Talk for Writing, making up our own actions. We created our own story maps and wrote character descriptions.

We have really enjoyed ‘Mindful Monday’ in Year 1. This has enabled us to be reflective and take time to relax. We have also taken part in our whole school projects during ‘Wonderful Wednesday’. We clearly have some very talented artists, chefs and Eco warriors in KS1!

I think we have all loved finding out a little more about the ‘Tin Forest’ and the Old Man’s dream. Year 1 have had great fun creating their own tin forest and thinking about what they would like to see in their forest.
